Umina Women's Bowling Club celebrated their 63rd Birthday on Tuesday 22nd November. Vice President Yvonne was in the Chair, assisted by Vice President Sandra, as President Gale was away.
It was lovely to see our members both playing and non bowling attend the day. We had a lovely luncheon of meats, salads and a roll. This was topped off with a slice of our birthday cake (chocolate mud) served with Ice Cream and strawberries.
On this day each year we ask our members to bring in toys to be distributed to needy families on the Peninsula.
Peter and Ann from Vinnies were delighted with the lovely array of gifts and will be distributing them to families in need.
The 2022-23 Minor Pairs were completed on 12th November. In the Semi-Finals held on 6th November, Sandra O'Malley & Meena Kelso defeated Katie Brown & Natasha McDowall and Barbara Schultz & Tanya Valli defeated Denise Arnold & Renette Burgess.
The final was played in ideal conditions. On the day Sandra & Meena played well and were the winners over Barbara & Tanya. Well done to all these ladies and congratulations to Sandra & Meena.
Meena has now won both the Minor Singles and Minor Pairs. Sandra was runner up in the Minor Singles and then paired with Meena for the Minor Pairs.

The 2022-2023 Minor Singles was completed on Friday 28th October. It was great to see so many of our Working members enter this event. We managed to get through without too many delays and thank you to all who gave up their time to mark.
The final played between Meena Kelso and Sandra O'Malley was played in beautiful sunny but windy conditions. Both players started off well but at times the wind made it tricky. Meena jumped away to an early lead and kept the pressure on Sandra. Both ladies played good bowls but Meena was too strong on the day. Congratulations to Meena and well done Sandra for making the final.
The 2022-23 Major Pairs were finally completed on 4th October after delays due to inclement weather. Throughout the event great bowls were witnessed and the final was no exception. Well done to all participants.

Congratulations to our Division 3 (red) side who won their Section and therefore went on to the District Pennant Post Sectionals played at Bateau Bay Bowling Club from 5th to 7th September. As there were 5 sections in Division 3 our ladies had to play the other 4 section winners. The cold windy overcast conditions on Monday and Tuesday were miserable and made it difficult for all. Play was on the undercover green. Wednesday saw the sun shining and Division 3 were on no.2 grass green.
Thanks to Barbara Schultz who was their Manager and had to sit out doing the Masterboard in the conditions.
Thank you also to all the Umina spectators who braved the conditions each day.
Umina had a bye on Monday morning then had a win against Davistown RSL in the afternoon. Tuesday morning saw a very closely fought match with Bateau Bay, just going down by 3 shots. Tuesday afternoon they had a win against Terrigal. It then came down to Wednesday mornings match. However, Gwandalan managed a win over Umina so our ladies were out of the running for the flag.
We are very proud of them and congratulate all the players.
WELL DONE
The Major Singles were finally completed on Tuesday 12th July, after postponements due to weather. It was played between Aileen Robertson and Yvonne Austin. Neither had won this event before.
