2020 PRESENTATION DAY and 61st BIRTHDAY.

On Tuesday 10th November Umina Beach Womens Bowling Club celebrated the club's 61st Birthday and the 2020 Championships Presentation Day.    President Joan welcomed all and those that were bowling went out to enjoy their game.   We are down to one green at the moment so numbers were restricted.     The non-players enjoyed themselves catching up with the 'news'.    

Presentation of Winners and Runners up took place after a lovely lunch.

Encouragement Award:   This award is decided by the Selectors.   This years winner was: Sandra O'Malley.   Unfortunately Sandra was not present so will be presented with her award at a later date by Lyn Kennedy Chair of Selection.

 2020 MINOR PAIRS

The 2020 Minor Pairs were completed on Friday 9th October. 

The finalists were Joan Murphy & Judith Moroney  against  Jan Ellery and Barbara Schultz.  

It was a lovely day, not too hot and with a slight breeze.   There were a few nerves to start off with but then the players settled down and played some lovely bowls.  

The eventual winners were the more experienced pair of Joan and Judith but Jan and Barbara put up a very good fight.    Well done to all and congratulations to Joan and Judith.

On Tuesday 6th October Umina Beach ladies celebrated long time member Eileen Crawford's 97th birthday.  Eileen will turn 97 on Saturday.    It was lovely to see all the members, especially a lot of non-bowling members come along to help Eileen celebrate.    President Joan presented Eileen with  beautiful flowers and then after we sang a Very Happy Birthday to her, Eileen cut her special cake.   It was an emotional time for all but especially for Eileen.

MINOR SINGLES

    WINNER:   TERRY CAUSBY                  RUNNER UP:  AILEEN ROBERTSON

The Minor Singles for 2020 was completed on Friday 18th September.   The Final was played between Terry Causby and Aileen Robertson.   After a very hard fought match between the two players Terry came out the winner.  It was a sigh of relief from Terry who had previously been runner up on 3 occasions.  

Congratulations to both players for some great bowling.

The 2020 Triples were played over 3 rounds ending in the final on Friday 14th August. Congratulations to the Winners Pat, Lyn and Dawn  and well done to Aileen, Jan and Barbara for making the final.

The 2020 Major Pairs were finally completed on 4th August after being delayed due to the cessation of bowls for several months as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic.
